Activities for children so that they are away from Screen at Home

- Activity – Art using paint and cut paste craft or Origami

- Age group- 11 to 12 years
- Things to use- Dodgeball
- Activity- Activities of team sports. In that, specifically some simple ones like Dodgeball. Dodgeball requires open space. A circle of radius 4m is drawn. 3 players run inside and 9 are outside. The outside team tries to hit the inside team with a football-sized ball. All it requires is space, a bunch of kids and a big ball

- Age group- 10 to 15 years
- Activity- Going Cycling with them early in the morning. This is convenient as there is no traffic at 6 am.

- Activity- Playing scrabble( board game) and boggle ( game) – both are word games. Great for focus, vocabulary and family time.

- Things to use- The activity doesn’t require anything in particular but if simple items mentioned in the story is available at home, then it makes it interesting. For example, Caps for monkey and the call seller
- Activity- Try to enact moral stories that are told or read out to them everyday. This activity helps improve the child’s vocabulary, since she/he has to speak her lines herself.

- Things to use- craft paper, beads, strings, etc
- Activity- Kids can enjoy quilling, craft work like making bookmarks,Photoframes,jewellery with beads,strings etc. It is a constructive and creative way to engage them in an activity they enjoy.

- Age group- 13 to 18 years
- Activity- Evening walk with mother/ father.. With this the children share everything with parents about what all comes in their mind. This helps to get a bonding between the parent and child.

- Age group- 15 to 17 years
- Activity- taking them to a municipal school where mostly under-privileged children study and spending time with them. Due to this exposure, luxuries won’t be taken for granted and the thought of being less wasteful will arise in day to day life.

- Things to use- soccer ball, Rubik’s cube
- Activity- Being a young coach for soccer and Rubik’s cube to young children. The idea is ‘ the more they teach , the more will they learn the right basics’

- Activity- Family can play games like Atlas, can be only city names or anything. Spending time with own pet dog by playing and taking them for walks.

- Activity- If interested, can indulge into dancing, drawing, craft, reading books and writing as well. Doing volunteer work for hindu temple where they can teach dance, art and donate money to small children.

- Activity- Playing indoor games like ‘Chakka Vachi’ and a card game called ‘Badam 7’. It gets quite competitive and sometimes very heated. Lots of taunts for the one who loses.

- Activity- Any sport as per the child’s interest is good. Playing sports on the ground, be it cricket or lawn tennis or even occasional runs that parent and child can do together.

- Activity- Use the sandpit game which has sand and moulds of different objects. This helps in motor skills and learning of different objects names. Once the child is able to see the mould take shape it’s amazing to see them laugh away.

- Activity- Try to spell atleast 3 new words a day. This will ensure learning new words everyday and increase vocabulary.
- Age group- 2 to 3 years
- Things to use- kitchen utensils, play dough, books
- Activity- The activity of Pretend Play. This includes using kitchen utensils and play dough to cook and bake. Narrating books like a play is something enjoyed, like the story of the Princess and the frog. The parents and child can take up different roles and do the lines from the play.

- Activity- Watching YouTube and working on some new art and craft activities in spare time.

- Age group- 7 to 13 years
- Activity- doing science experiments by watching YouTube. Parent and child may go collecting the required materials and do the experiment together.

- Things to use- shells, craft paper
- Activity- Art work out of pista shells , sea shells , making flowers out of craft paper, etc.
